
William Scharnberg, French Horn
Scharnberg is Regents Professor of Music at the University of North Texas in
Denton. He
performs as principal horn of the Dallas Opera Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Bach Society, and Breckenridge
Chamber Orchestra. A member of the
Texas Brass Ensemble and North Texas Chamber Winds, he has recorded on
Crystal and Centaur Records. Bill is Past President of the International Horn
Society and also Editor of The Horn Call (journal of the International
Horn Society) and
he has appeared as guest artist at three International Horn Workshops. He earned
a DMA degree at the University of Iowa and has held faculty appointments at
Central Missouri State University, Orchestra of Stockholm, the Dallas Ballet,
the
Dallas Lyric Opera, the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Baroque Orchestra, Classical
Music Seminar of Austria, the Montana Chamber Orchestra, and the
Flathead
Festival Orchestra. A guest artist and clinician at regional horn
workshops, his
editions of 18th and 19th century works for horn have been published. He joined
Red Lodge Festival faculty in 1981.
