Jay Mauchley, Piano

Jay Mauchley has performed widely as a soloist and ensemble musician. He
received a Doctor of Music degree in piano performance with "high distinction"
from Indiana University. Since 1978 when he joined the piano faculty at the
University of Idaho, he has played hundreds of solo and chamber recitals throughout
the United States, including numerous duo-piano concerts with his wife, Sandy.
The Music Teachers' National Association recently awarded him the Master
Teacher Certificate, the highest teaching achievement recognition it gives. Among
his recent triumphs is a performance of Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of
Paganini," which one critic called a "quicksilver performance...Mauchley tossed off
the difficult piano part with technique to spare." He returns for his 22nd year as
a member of the Red Lodge Music Festival.
