Carl Rath, bassoonist

Carl Rath is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Oklahoma where he began teaching in Fall, 1981. He has been a clinician at state music education association conferences in Oklahoma, Colorado, Montana, and Texas. As a guest artist, he has soloed with bands and orchestras in Great Falls and Kalispell (MT), Norman and Oklahoma City (OK), Appleton and Fon Du Lac (WI), and Ogden (UT). As a chamber musician, Rath has enjoyed numerous celebrated performances in the U.S., Argentina, Austria, Hungary, and England, including the Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet debut in Carnegie Recital Hall. Mr. Rath was Principal Bassoon with Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria for 17 summers and was solo artist three times with the Festival orchestra in several performances of the Mozart Concerto in Bb (K. 191) and Haydn Sinfonie Concertante in Bb. His performances have been heard on national and international radio program and is featured on three CDs: Moosmann Artists Sampler Disc, Moosmann Live (live performances from the 2002 IDRS conference in Banff, Canada--2002), and A Christmas Delight (Integra Music Group).
He is an active member of the international Double Reed Society and has been featured in solo and ensemble concerts at many of their annual conferences since 1993. Currently, Carl is Principal Bassoon in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra and has taught at the Red Lodge (MT) Music Festival since 1980.
