Beth Chouinard-Mitchell received her Bachelor’s Degree in Tuba Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, where she studied with David Fedderly, and holds a Masters Degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Southern California where she studied with Tommy Johnson and Jim Self.
Beth’s skills as a tubist have led her on extensive tours of the United States and Europe. Ms Mitchell has played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Germany’s Eurobrass, and has appeared with Washington’s United States Navy Band. She was a national finalist in the MTNA and Dubec New Music solo competitions, has soloed with the Los Angeles Zipper Orchestra, and was principal tubist with the Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra in San Francisco, and the Orchesta Sinfonica de Monterry in Nueva Leon, Mexico.
Beth Mitchell has an active freelance career, performing regularly across the Los Angeles area. She has taught at the University of Arkansas, masterclasses at USC and is currently on the faculties of Biola University and Pasadena City College, teaches tuba at the Red Lodge Music Festival, at JFK High School, and is an adjunct faculty member of the Idyllwild Arts Academy.
